North East Coastal Community Development Project

 

 

Livelihood and enterprise development under the North East Coastal Community Development project is an important intervention for reducing poverty and meet basic needs via socio-economic development in Trincomalee district of eastern province with the funds of Asian Development Bank. SEEDS and North East Coastal Community Development Project (NECCDEP) entered in to an agreement on 11th June 2008 and started livelihood activities in the Trincomalee district.

The major concern of the project is to improve technical skills, employment creation and thereby to develop sustainable livelihood via income generation.SEEDS’the leading enterprise development service provider in Sri Lanka is able to support and strenghten the livelihood component of the project by delivering enterprenureship training,skill based technical trainings with a set of modern business development package.

In this process, SEEDS uses a participatory approach in identifying community’s priority needs and provide counseling, human resource development support, livelihood development support by appropriate trainings, business development facilities. SEEDS microfinance division is very recently entering into the agreement with National development Trust Fund (NDTF) to provide credit facilities and other necessary assistance to the most deserving people under this project within a period of two years.
